Endocarditis due to enterococcus 1%-32%, second (after staph aureus) or third (after staph, strep) cause of IE. Can be native, prosthetic valve and can be community and nosocomial

Subacute course. Mostly make, elderly but female of childbearing age as well. GI/GU source: Post procedures. Fever, wt loss, fatigue. Most common complication is heart failure in half. 27-43% emboli mostly cns. Mortality 11-35% if HF & CNS emboli
